MAKE IT YOURS

A service receipt with labor and materials

Use this layout to record payment for work you have completed. Describe the service, separate hours from materials, and include a job reference so the customer can tell which work the payment covers.

  1. Identify the job

In Business & logo, replace the sample studio details with your own. In Receipt details, enter the transaction date and your manually assigned receipt number. Edit the job and service references in the two-column information section.

  2. Separate time and materials

In Items, enter labor hours as the quantity and the hourly rate as the unit price. For a fixed-price service, use quantity 1. Add materials on their own lines so the customer can see how the total is built.

  3. Record the payment

Set the applicable adjustments, then choose Card or Cash in Payment. Card records the full total as paid; it does not charge a card. For cash, enter the amount actually received and check for change or a balance due.

The example, checked line by line

This fictional studio records 1.5 hours at $75.00 per hour and $18.00 of materials. The illustrative 8.25% tax produces a $141.27 total. The example is recorded as paid by card.

What to check before you use it

The editor applies one tax rate to the discounted subtotal. It cannot apply different tax treatments to labor and materials. It also does not send invoices, collect payments or track instalments. Use this layout only where its calculations fit your transaction.

Can I use this as an invoice?

This page is for recording a payment, not requesting one. The editor has no payment due date, collection link or invoice ledger. A quantity-and-price table alone does not turn it into an invoicing workflow.
